Recently, another advantage to using energy efficient air conditioning systems is a federal tax credit. Individuals who choose to install any type of air conditioning units, which are Energy Star rated, will be eligible for a federal tax credit of as much as $300.
The air conditioning units that qualify for this tax credit are obviously costlier to purchase than the ordinary air conditioners that consume more energy to operate. However, calculating the tax incentive, along with the savings in the cost to run the unit, clearly shows that it is well worth it to install new units that qualify. Even with a savings of just $10 a month on the electricity bill adds up to $120 for a year. Add that minimum savings to that the tax credit of $300, and the net saving is $420 for the first year.
In most instances, this amount will more than offset the initial, higher cost of energy efficient, air conditioning units. On top of that, the energy efficient air conditioning unit will also continue to save money each year and make it more affordable to run.
When choosing a room air conditioning unit, experts advise that it is best to purchase the best model that is affordable, but not necessarily the biggest unit. The unit should fit into the amount of space available, while taking into consideration the room size.
Buying a room air conditioner model that is bigger than what is needed actually means that it will be using more energy and will not be efficient at all. This wasted energy is because of the cycling of the motor that works to keep the room at the right temperature. On top of an ineffective use of energy, this also means there is more wear on the moving parts as well.

How long Should I Wait to Get My Carpets Cleaned?
It’s not a straight forward answer and it all depends on the use and abuse your carpets take. If you have a few kids and the carpet gets daily wear then you should look at cleaning your carpets at least twice a year and maybe a third time for just the high traffic areas. Waiting until your carpets look dirty is the worst time because all that dirt and oil build up may not come out because of how extensive it is.
If you live alone and have no pets and not a whole lot of carpet traffic then most likely you only need to have your carpets cleaned once a year. After I mention this I often get asked why the carpets even need to be cleaned once a year because these people are taking very good care of their carpets and they are immaculate.It’s a very honest question to ask and one most people would think of.
Imagine this, you put a shirt on the ground and walk on it for 12 months. Yes you may be walking over it with just your socks but it still gets very dirty. After that year would you pick that shirt up and wear it. The answer is of course not.Of course your going to wash your shirt first. Carpets are great at hiding dirt. You want to be able to sit and even lay down on your carpets with out having to worry about how dirty they are.
Irregardless of the amount of traffic your carpets get you want to have them cleaned at least once a year. Almost all carpet manufacturers will also tell you to get your carpets cleaned once a year as well. Doing so will really help the over all life and looks of your carpet.

Taking A Look At The Canister Vacuum

A canister vacuum is the most common alternative to an upright vacuum for floor care. Canister vacuums carry that name because the main part of the device is a drum, or canister, where the motor is housed and where the dirt collection area is located. Attached to the canister is a hose that various vacuum attachments and accessories can be mounted onto for further cleaning needs.
A canister model usually has wheels attached to the bottom of the drum which allows it to move easily. Rather than pushing the unit, as with upright vacuums, canister vacuums are pulled by the hose and attachments. The movement of the unit is free and easy as the vacuum operator moves around. This results in a much easier method of facilitation because the user does not have to push and pull on a heavy unit that includes the motor, as is the case with uprights.
The canister vacuum is a good multi-purpose cleaner that is versatile and relatively inexpensive. The United States seems to be the only country that primarily uses upright vacuums as opposed to the canister models. One reason for this is simply familiarity. Most people in the US have grown up with an upright in their homes and naturally look for a similar unit when it is time to buy their own.
But, in the rest of the world, it is the canister vac that is the more common cleaning device. Perhaps it is because of the lower cost which is often more important in other areas of the world. In Europe, which overall has a culture that is much less inclined to purchase “disposable” products, the canisters are valued because they provide more years of dependable use.
Another reason that the canister model is preferred in other parts of the world is because of how they can be used on multiple surfaces and for multiple purposes. This makes them a more versatile cleaning device as they can be used for carpeting, as well as floors. Canisters are also considered to be better at vertical surface cleaning tasks.
A canister vac will clog much less frequently than an upright vacuum. This is because they use a straight tube and a non-convoluted hose which provides for a clear path into the dust bag of the vacuum. In upright vacuums, the dust must pass through a series of curves and connections that both reduces the airflow and creates more friction, which in tun reduces the suction power and the cleaning performance. A frequent complaint about the upright vacuum cleaner is that it is prone to clogging, which not only reduces efficiency, but requires time and effort to clear and maintain.
Overall, a canister vacuum will likely cost more initially, as compared to an upright vacuum cleaner. However, over the long haul, canister vacs are more cost effective because they have less moving vacuum parts to be replaced, they are less prone to breakdown from complications due to clogging, and they have larger vacuum bags, so they need to be changed less often. Because they are also more powerful and therefore efficient, they generally require less time to clean an area, saving both time and electricity.
